The AI writing platform now has a plethora of productivity-boosting tools that are already altering the way people write.
QuillBot is the first and only all-in-one AI writing platform, providing tools to assist users in communicating their ideas, improving the clarity and fluidity of their writing, polishing work in terms of both content and grammar, analysing writing for key points, comparing and contrasting reference materials, and more. Three computer science students, Rohan Gupta, Anil Jason, and David Silin, founded the company in 2017 with the goal of making writing easier. QuillBot is powered by advanced AI technology that uses natural language processing (NLP) to automatically review and refine written communication. Every month, over 5 million people use QuillBot to improve their writing skills and deliver a more compelling message.
QuillBot today announced the release of its much-anticipated grammar checker. QuillBot’s AI-powered writing platform now includes a number of time-saving tools that make writing easier for its 5 million global monthly active users. This new tool combines spelling, grammar, and punctuation correction strategies supported by powerful AI models, flagging errors and recommending edits. In late 2020, QuillBot users began requesting this type of tool to supplement the platform’s paraphrasing and summarising tools. The goal was to streamline the process by simplifying users’ workflows while staying within the AI writing platform.
The flagship QuillBot paraphraser was the first of its kind to function as a full-sentence thesaurus. Users laud the sleek interface as well as the wide range of writing modes and features that make articulating even the most complex ideas simple for both English speakers and learners. The paraphrasing tool can help with everything from fixing an awkward email to shortening a long paragraph and rewording cited facts to build an argument. It’s also useful when ideas are proving difficult to capture. English language learners (ELLs) and newer writers benefit greatly from knowing how to change a verb or clause in their written work to better reflect the tone and style of their ideas. Furthermore, seeing words, phrases, and idioms in context helps ELLs improve their knowledge of the English language.
The QuillBot summarizer was released in the middle of 2020. It has since become a game changer for many users by identifying only the most important information in news articles, long memos, and everything in between. Students, bloggers, researchers, and even attorneys use the summarizer to quickly and easily find, compare, and contrast sources for work and school projects. The summarising tool can help jumpstart momentum and avoid common writing roadblocks for those looking for inspiration or to break through writer’s block. Many users, particularly content creators, use it to review their own work to ensure that their main points are conveyed in a clear and compelling manner.
The Next Step
The grammar checker is the next step in QuillBot’s vision of a one-stop writing platform, assisting users with all aspects of writing, including source selection, language refinement, and now editing for clarity and fluency. The grammar checker combines three functions into one powerful tool for detecting spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors. After writing assignments, autobiographies, and other documents have been polished with content edits, they can be run through QuillBot to catch any error, big or small, common or obscure. All grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors will be found with a single click and suggested edits will be displayed or applied. This tool is particularly useful in identifying frequently misspelt words, grammatical errors, and misused words, allowing users to improve as writers with each use. QuillBot’s free online grammar check assists users in avoiding errors and polishing written work so that the ideas shine rather than the typos.
QuillBot raised $4.25 million in seed funding in April 2020 as a young, hypergrowth startup, led by GSV Ventures and Sierra Ventures, with participation from Service Provider Capital. The company’s early success was built on its flagship product, the paraphraser, which quickly gained a large following. The launch of the summarizer gained even more traction, and now that a wishlist item for their existing users has been fulfilled, QuillBot shows no signs of slowing down. As they work toward their mission of making writing and research painless, they have a citation generator on the horizon, as well as many more productivity-enhancing products in the pipeline for later in 2021.
